कभी धूप दे कभी बदलियाँ, दिलो जाँ से दोनों क़ुबूल हैं।
मगर उस महल में न क़ैद कर, जहाँ ज़िन्दगी की हवा न हो।
At times give me sun or cloud, I 'll accept both with glee.
But don't bind me in a palace, where no lively wind is near.
तिरे इख़्तियार में क्या नहीं, मुझे इस तरह से नवाज़ दे।
यूँ दुआएँ मेरी क़ुबूल हों, मेरे लब पे कोई दुआ न हो।
What's out of your control, in such a way grace O God.
Grant my prayers in a way, from
my lips no prayer you hear.
कभी हम भी उन के क़रीब थे, दिलो जाँ से बढ़ के अज़ीज़ थे।
मगर आज ऐसे मिला है वो, कभी पहले जैसे मिला न हो।
I was also close to her, more than life was loved by her.
Today she met in such a way, as if we never met O dear.
