गर तुझ में कुछ नहीं तो किसी शै में कुछ नहीं।
There is nothing in flute, song is in the soul.
If there 's nothing in you, then nothing is on roll.
तेरे लहू की आँच से गर्मी है जिस्म की।
मय के हज़ार वस्फ़ सही, मय में कुछ नहीं।
The body is warm with the heat of your blood.
Wine has virtues but in itself can't roll.
जिस में ख़ुलूस फ़िक्र न हो, वो सुख़न फ़ुज़ूल।
जिस में न दिल शरीक हो, उस लय में कुछ नहीं।
That poem is useless which lacks true thought.
If heart isn't involved, the tune won't roll.
कश्कोले फ़न उठा के सूए सारवाँ न जा।
अब दस्ते इख़्तियारे जमो कै में कुछ नहीं। Stretch not before rulers the bowl of art.
Now these paper rulers have lost their role.
