ये दोपहर कुछ तो मोतबिर हो, तमाम माहौल जल रहा है।
Shade these with your tress, hot moments of youth in my name.
Let the noon become bearable, whole sphere is set aflame.
बारिश शराब-ए-अर्श है ये सोच कर 'अदम'।
बारिश के सब हुरूफ़ को उल्टा के पी गया।
'Adam' thinking that heavenly drink is rain.
I drank reversing the letter sequence of rain.
जिन से इंसाँ को पहुँचती है हमेशा तकलीफ़।
उन का दावा है कि वो अस्ल ख़ुदा वाले हैं।
Those who hurt humans all the time.
Claim, they are close to God sublime.
रुक रुक के साज़ छेड़ कि दिल मुतमइन नहीं।
थम थम के मय पिला कि तबीअ'त उदास है।
Let music stop and start, satisfied isn't the heart.
Let drink be served in part, my mood is sad from start.
दिल अभी पूरी तरह टूटा नहीं।
दोस्तों की मेहरबानी चाहिए।
Heart is not yet fully broken.
Needs a friendly kindness token.
जिन से इंसाँ को पहुँचती है हमेशा तकलीफ़।
उन का दावा ऐ कि वो अस्ल ख़ुदा वाले हैं।

डूबने वाले तिरे हाथ से साहिल तो गया।
Stretch out to embrace storm for sure

मैं मय-कदे की राह से हो कर गुज़र गया।
वर्ना सफ़र हयात का काफ़ी तवील था।
I took a short cut through wine mart.
Or else, life was on stretched out part.
हुस्न इक दिलरुबा हुकूमत है।
इश्क़ इक कुदरती ग़ुलामी है।
Beauty steals the heart, holds reign.

शिकन न डाल जबीं पर शराब देते हुए।
ये मुस्कुराती हुई चीज़ मुस्कुरा के पिला।
Don't wrinkle your forehead while serving the wine.
Serve this smiling thing with a smile so fine.
कौन अंगड़ाई ले रहा है 'अदम'।
दो जहाँ लड़खड़ाए जाते हैं।
O 'Adam' whose body is giving stretch call ?
Both worlds are tumbling, about to fall.
साक़ी मुझे शराब की तोहमत नहीं पसंद।
मुझको तिरी निगाह का इल्ज़ाम चाहिए।
Wine girl ! I do not like allegations about wine.

इजाज़त हो तो मैं तसदीक़ कर लूँ तेरी ज़ुल्फ़ों से।
सुना है ज़िन्दगी इक ख़ूबसूरत दाम है साक़ी।

Bar maid ! Life has laid, a lovely net, wow !
वो मिले भी तो इक झिझक सी रही।
काश थोड़ी सी हम पिए होते।
We were a little hesitant even when we met.
If I had taken a little drink before the set.
थोड़ी सी अक़्ल लाए थे हम भी मगर 'अदम'।
दुनिया के हादसात ने दीवाना कर दिया।
O 'Adam' ! Some sense I also had.
But worldly calamities drove me mad.
मैं उम्र भर जवाब नहीं दे सका 'अदम'।
वो इक नज़र में इतने सवालात कर गए।
O 'Adam' ! I couldn't answer these life-long.
She set such queries in a glance, gone wrong.
दिल ख़ुश हुआ है मस्जिद-ए-वीराँ को देख कर।
मेरी तरह ख़ुदा का भी ख़ाना ख़राब है।
Seeing a deserted mosque, I feel so fine.
Just like mine, is the house of divine !
ज़रा इक तबस्सुम की तकलीफ़ करना।
कि गुलज़ार में फूल मुरझा रहे हैं।
Just take a little trouble only to smile.
Garden flowers are wilting for a while.
बस इक क़दम उठा था ग़लत राह-ए-शौक़ में।
मंज़िल तमाम उम्र मुझे ढूँढती रही।
Only one wrong step in the path of desire.
While life, was goal in search, on fire.
सवाल कर के मैं ख़ुद ही बहुत पशेमाँ हूँ।
जवाब दे के मुझे और शर्मसार न कर।
However masked, a question was asked, I myself so much repent.
By giving a reply, don't make me feel shy and completely spent.
मैं बद-नसीब हूँ मुझ को न दे ख़ुशी इतनी।
कि मैं ख़ुशी को भी ले कर ख़राब कर दूँगा
I am so unfortunate, don't give me joys in spate.
Pleasure, I can't treasure, 'll spoil it, O mate .
साक़ी ज़रा निगाह मिला कर तो देखना।
कमबख्त होश में तो नहीं आ गया हूँ मैं।
Look in to my eyes O bar maid.
By chance,did the senses raid.
मरने वाले तो ख़ैर हैं बेबस।
जीने वाले कमाल करते हैं।
Dead are helpless, can not ponder .
Those who live, perform wonder.
मय-कदा है यहाँ सुकूँ से बैठ।
कोई आफ़त इधर नहीं आती।
It's a tavern, sit peacefully here.
Here no calamity can come near !
छोड़ा नहीं ख़ुदी को, दौड़े ख़ुदा के पीछे।
आसाँ को छोड़ बंदे मुश्किल को ढूँढते हैं
Did not leave the self, ran after God to ask.
People leave the easy but follow hard task.
कश्ती चला रहा है मगर किस अदा के साथ।
हम भी न डूब जाएँ कहीं नाख़ुदा के साथ।
He is steering the ship, but in what a style.
Won't we also sink with boat- man in a while ?
बाज़ - औक़ात, किसी और के मिलने से 'अदम'!
अपनी हस्ती से मुलाक़ात भी हो जाती है।
O 'Adam '! At times, after meeting someone else.
You also meet the self, feel your own pulse.
ये क्या कि तुम ने जफ़ा से भी हाथ खींच लिया।
मिरी वफ़ाओं का कुछ तो सिला दिया होता।
Even from infidelity, why withdraw your hands ?
Some return for my faithful deeds still stands.
ज़िन्दगी है इक किराये की ख़ुशी।
सूखते तालाब का पानी हूँ मैं।
Our life is but a pleasure on rent.
I am water of pond, almost spent.
पहले बड़ी रग़बत थी तिरे नाम से मुझ को।
अब सुन के तिरा नाम मैं कुछ सोच रहा हूँ।
Earlier my desire, was on fire, listening to your name.
Now I enquire, do I require, listening to your name.
लोग कहते हैं कि तुम से ही मोहब्बत है मुझे।
तुम जो कहते हो कि वहशत है, तो वहशत होगी।
People say that I have love feelings, only for you.

आँख का ए'तिबार क्या करते ?
जो भी देखा वो ख़्वाब में देखा।
Why believe open eye scene ?
Only in dreams , I have seen.
बोले कोई हँस कर तो छिड़क देते हैं जाँ भी।
