I sip tears, devour the pain.
घास में जज़्ब हुए होंगे ज़मीं के आँसू।
पाँव रखता हूँ तो थोड़ी सी नमी लगती है।
Tears of earth were absorbed in the grass.
It feels a little wet, this carpet is class.
थमें आँसू तो फिर तुम शौक़ से घर को चले जाना।
कहाँ जाते हो इस तूफ़ान में पानी ज़रा ठहरे।...... लाला माधव राम जौहर......

अश्क-ए-ग़म दीदा-ए-पुर-नम से संभाले न गए।

Tears put off what you had set on fire.
What tears provoked, who 'd cool that ire ?
आँसू हमारे गिर गए उस की निगाह से।
इन मोतियों की अब कोई क़ीमत नहीं रही

पहले नहाई ओस में फिर आँसुओं में रात।

आँखों तक आ स्की न कभी आँसुओं की लहर।

Wave of tears couldn't reach eyes, even trace.
This caravan was also lost out of place.
इतने आँसू तो न थे दीदा-ए-तर के आगे।
अब तो पानी ही भरा रहता है घर के आगे।.......... मीर हसन...........
So many tears weren't in wet eye dome.
Now water has settled in front of home.
ये आँसू बे-सबब जारी नहीं है।
मुझे रोने की बीमारी नहीं है।

For nothing are not tears on roll.
No disease to weep is taking it's toll.
उस ने छूकर मुझे पत्थर से फिर इंसान किया।
मुद्दतों बाद मेरी आँखों से आँसू आए

रोज़ अच्छे नहीं लगते आँसू।
ख़ास मौक़ों पे मज़ा देते हैं।

Travelling vessels, in category of blood, it won't fall.
Till it trickles down the eyes, to it, blood I won't call.
