Heart blisters were afire,

ये ख़िरद की रात छटे कहीं नज़र आए फिर सहर-ए-जुनूँ

Serve life giving wine bar-girl, 

in frenzy again let me twirl. 

Let it be over, this mind night,

Let morn' of frenzy be in sight. 

जाने किस वक़्त कूच करना हो 

अपना सामान मुख़्तसर रखिए 

..... निकहत इफ़्तिख़ार..... 

You just don't know, 

when you have to go. 

Keep your luggage, 

a minimum baggage.

इंक़लाब आएगा रफ़्तार से मायूस न हो

Revolution 'll be, it's the need, don't be upset with the speed. Neither what is very slow,

 Speed slowly giving a vent.

राब्ता लाख सही क़ाफ़िला-सालार के साथ 

हम को चलना है मगर वक़्त की रफ़्तार के साथ..... क़तील शफ़ाई.... 

May be I have to abide, 

with the caravan guide. 

But I have the need to go,

 with tide of time on show. 

ये कैसा दश्त-ए-तहय्युर है याँ से कूच करो

यहाँ तो पाँव से रफ़्तार खींचता है कोई

What is this desert of wonder? Get up, let us go and wander. 

Here from  under our feet, 

someone pulls speed so neat. 

सब करिश्मात-ए-तसव्वुर हैं 'शकील' 

वर्ना आता है न जाता है कोई 

Imagination is a must. 

For a miracle to adjust. 

Shakeel there's none to come,

nor is a departure  by some.

फूल खिले थे मैं ने जब वीराना छोड़ा था

..... उबैद सिद्दीक़ी..... 

Whether it was truth or tale,

that I had left as a trail. 

The flowers were in bloom, 

when I left desert in gloom.
