अपनी ख़ुशी न आए न अपनी ख़ुशी चले
The birth brought us here, with death 'd be gone.
Neither arrival nor departure was a wish of our own.
हो उम्र-ए-ख़िज़्र भी तो हो मालूम वक़्त-ए-मर्ग
हम क्या रहे यहाँ अभी आए अभी चले
With the age of angel Khizr, we 'd know day of death.
How long are we here, just arrived and are gone.
हम से भी इस बिसात पे कम होंगे बद-क़िमार
जो चाल हम चले सो निहायत बुरी चले
Only a few on chess-board, play worse than me.
Whatever move I advanced , was in a very bad zone.
बेहतर तो है यही कि न दुनिया से दिल लगे
पर क्या करें जो काम न बे-दिल-लगी चले
It's better if your heart isn't attached to the world.
But what to do if without it,
you aren't work prone.
लैला का नाक़ा दश्त में तासीर-ए-इश्क़ से
सुन कर फ़ुग़ान-ए-क़ैस बजा-ए-हुदी चले
She-camel of Lailaa by effect of love in desert.
In place of Hudi, the grief of Qais was shown .
नाज़ाँ न हो ख़िरद पे जो होना है हो वही
दानिश तिरी न कुछ मिरी दानिश-वरी चले
Don't be proud of intellect , what's to be would be.
Neither mine nor your wisdom will work in this zone.
दुनिया ने किस का राह-ए-फ़ना में दिया है साथ
तुम भी चले चलो यूँही जब तक चली चले
In this world who can join on way of mortality.
You may come along as long as you are gone.
जाते हवा-ए-शौक़ में हैं इस चमन से 'ज़ौक़'
अपनी बला से बाद-ए-सबा अब कभी चले
O' Zauq'! I leave garden with a breeze of longing.
What to me now, when breeze of morning 'd be blown?
