कहीं ज़मीन कहीं आसमाँ नहीं मिलता
None ever gets the world as a whole.
Either earth or sky is missing from goal.
तमाम शहर में ऐसा नहीं ख़ुलूस न हो
जहाँ उमीद हो इस की वहाँ नहीं मिलता
Not that there's no candour in the city.
Where you hope to get, it's out of goal.
कहाँ चराग़ जलाएँ कहाँ गुलाब रखें
छतें तो मिलती हैं लेकिन मकाँ नहीं मिलता
Where to light lamp, where to place rose.
Roofs are there but no home as a whole.
ये क्या अज़ाब है सब अपने आप में गुम हैं
ज़बाँ मिली है मगर हम-ज़बाँ नहीं मिलता
What a calamity, each one is lost in self.
Language is there but none to talk with, console.
चराग़ जलते ही बीनाई बुझने लगती है l
ख़ुद अपने घर में ही घर का निशाँ नहीं मिलता
When a lamp is alit, the vision is reduced.
In my own home, I can't get it's trace or toll.
