कर लूँगा जमा दौलत-ओ-ज़र उस के बाद क्या
कर लूँगा शानदार सा घर उस के बाद क्या
If there is a wish to drink, a drunkard I shall be.
I 'll travel many taverns, but then what to do?
मय की तलब जो होगी तो बन जाऊँगा मैं रिंद
कर लूँगा मयकदों का सफ़र उस के बाद क्या
To pursue hobby of meeting with beautiful dames,
In tress shade it' ll be morn' but then what to do?
होगा जो शौक़ हुस्न से राज़-ओ-नियाज़ का
कर लूँगा गेसुओं में सहर उस के बाद क्या
I shall organise many poetic meets of class.
Thus I 'll get a good name but then what to do?
शेर-ओ-सुख़न की ख़ूब जाऊँगा महफ़िलें
दुनिया में होगा नाम मगर उस के बाद क्या
If there is a desire, I' ll go around the world.
Back again to the old town but then what to do?
मौज आएगी तो सारे जहाँ की करूँगा सैर
वापस वही पुराना नगर उस के बाद क्या
Then one day, death 'il knock at the door of life.
Lamp of life 'll be put out, but then what to do?
इक रोज़ मौत ज़ीस्त का दर खटखटाएगी
बुझ जाएगा चराग़-ए-क़मर उस के बाद क्या
Thus rose the dust' n again with dust it' d meet.
After that who can guess, but then what to do?
उठी थी ख़ाक ख़ाक में मिल जाएगी वहीं
फिर उस के बाद किस को ख़बर उस के बाद क्या
